Mystic River Watershed Mural Gets Annual Touch-Up

The Mystic River Watershed mural, a work by artist Yetti Frenkel, is a joyful way for people to explore the watershed.

“The map is whimsical enough to be fun, yet accurate enough to show people what the Mystic River Watershed is, who some of the inhabitants of the watershed are (the animals), and how their place of recreation fits into the picture,” said Julie Ing Stern, MyRWA volunteer & Board member.

Originally commissioned in 2012 and repainted in 2020, the mural was refreshed again this October with the help of over two dozen volunteers (photos below). Thank you to everyone who helped touch up the mural and to all stopped by to offer us words of encouragement!

We loved when people stopped by to tell us how they enjoyed the mural and what was their favorite part! We encourage you to stop by the Mystic Lakes Dam at 481 Mystic Valley Parkway (google maps: Medford Boat Club public entrance) to see the mural if you have a chance. Take a selfie with your favorite part of the mural (which body of water, river, or animal?) and use the hashtag #MysticMap to be featured on MyRWA’s social media.
