Join us in getting to know Shannon with this fun Q and A:

Q: Tell us about an experience that has led you here:

I recently completed a service term through Public Health Americorps that was hosted by Everett Community Growers. During my time there I worked with a wonderful staff, dedicated resident engagement team, and other great local organizations to increase community involvement in environmental and social justice projects in Everett. The people I met there inspire me every day, and I feel so lucky to have found this career path that brings me such joy.

While at ECG I worked on many initiatives partnered with MyRWA, and I immediately noticed MyRWA staff’s dedication to meaningful community engagement. I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue this work now with MyRWA and the great communities of the Upstream Mystic region!

Q: What’s something about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume alone?

I love cutting and styling hair! More people started letting me do their hair during the pandemic and now I regularly cut most of my friends' hair. I’ve cut a wide variety of lengths/textures/layers and I’m always looking for more people who would trust me with their hair. Don’t hesitate to reach out!

Q: What do you do when you aren't working?

I love crocheting, exploring trails, thrifting, eating, and chit-chatting.

Q: What part of your job are you most excited about?

I’m most excited to connect with new people and learn more about the unique aspirations of the Mystic communities as we work together to strengthen our social and environmental resilience. I’m committed to ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard, and I’m eager to bring fresh perspectives to the table as we collaborate on creating lasting change.
