With the close of the in-person herring monitoring season, Erica Wood has officially left her duties leading MyRWA’s communications, engagement and volunteer efforts. We thank her for all her hard work over the years, and I know that many of you have enjoyed working with her as much as we have.
“After nearly 3.5 years, my time at the Mystic River Watershed Association has come to a close. I'm leaving this position with valued friendships, deep affection for the river, tremendous respect for my colleagues, and a lot of knowledge about birds, river herring, and cycling. I'm grateful for this experience that helped me better understand my identity as a Native-Alaskan/Southerner/Appalachian in New England, and better identify what I want in my professional life. This summer I will be apprenticing on an organic, woman-owned farm. In January 2022 I'll start a Masters degree program at the State University of New York College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry with Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer and Dr. Stewart Diemont, looking at plant resilience in the face of climate change. A big thanks to everyone I've worked with in the Mystic.”
