What happens when you nominate a park or path for some TLC?
Earlier this year Scott McClure, watershed resident, alerted us to construction debris is Alewife Brook Reservation (see photos of the debris below). MyRWA reached out to the City of Cambridge and the Town of Arlington to identify the responsible parties and implement the correct removal process. The Town of Arlington DPW removed the debris themselves after facing obstacles from the construction company. It’s stories like these—MyRWA, residents, and municipalities working in partnership towards a common goal—that keeps us inspired and working for the watershed.
Scott says, "living near Alewife Brook has been a fantastic opportunity. My family loves to walk and ride bikes on the path, and there are always red tailed hawks, great blue herons, and downy woodpeckers that we can see in this corridor. It's also been wonderful to watch the water quality improve and the amount of litter go down in just the few years that we've lived here, and I know that the staff and volunteers of the Mystic River Watershed Association have put in a lot of effort to make that happen!"
