A Cambridge resident and one of the designers to the Encore Harbor walk and first living shoreline on the Mystic, Natalie has long been a champion of the Mystic River.
Reflecting on that experience of building the six-acre Harborwalk that is open to the public, Natalie said “I got see everything that went into the transformation of a gated blighted shoreline into a beautiful public Harborwalk starting with the removal of contaminated soil to the installation of pavers, light poles, landscaping, and so much more.”
Running along the Harborwalk is also a living shoreline, which provides great habitat for fish and birds and can help improve water quality; while the paths and views are great for the people in our watershed.
“The area was transformed. It is a little oasis on the river,” said Natalie. This coming summer, Natalie shared that she is excited to help remove invasive water chestnuts from canoes. Natalie also donates every month to MyRWA through her employee giving program. “I support MyRWA because it is a passionate community driven organization with values that match my own. And they get things done,” said Natalie.
