Please take 10 minutes to tell us how the design of the new park along the River can reflect the communities, stories and cultures of Malden.
During this critical time in history, as the Black Lives Matter movement is picking up momentum, we have an opportunity to celebrate Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the racially diverse City of Malden. In rejection of the historic use of public art, such as confederate statues, to reinforce systemic racism, we have an opportunity in designing the Malden River Works project to stand against racial injustice.
We are proposing “Celebrate Malden” as an explicit design goal and invite you to share your thoughts in the survey below on how we can accomplish this work.
Please share your thoughts in this brief survey by July 14, 2020.

Malden River Works is a coalition of community leaders of color, youth, environmental advocates, and government officials as well as designers—eager to make the Malden River waterfront a park for public enjoyment and recreation. We also will improve our river’s wildlife habitat and our city’s flood resiliency. You can read more about the project and the public engagement that has happened to-date here.
