Mystic enthusiast and MyRWA volunteer Rick Beinecke passed away suddenly on June 19th. Rick began his involvement with MyRWA in 2011, after moving to Arlington. He was a true champion of the Mystic - from co-leading kayak tours, to giving presentations on the Mystic's history, and to authoring the Mystic's only paddling guide: The Mystic River: A Natural and Human History and Recreation Guide. Rick gave generously of his time and energy and was a passionate environmentalist. We are all saddened by this loss, and our thoughts go out to his family, friends and the entire Mystic community. As a testament to Rick's dedication to the Mystic, he requested that memorial gifts be made to MyRWA as well as to Suffolk University, where he served as a Professor in the Institute for Public Service & Healthcare Department.
