Press Release, July 21, 2017
How many ways are there to enjoy all that the Mystic River Watershed has to offer across its 76 square miles and 22 communities? The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) invites you to find out . . . and maybe even win a prize!
As part of its 45th anniversary celebration this year, MyRWA has created the Mystic Quest, a fun way to explore, discover and enjoy the watershed however you wish.
Want to rent a canoe or kayak for some paddling? Head to Somerville’s Blessing of the Bay Boathouse or Spy Pond in Arlington. Looking for striking views of Boston Harbor? Take a hike in the Middlesex Fells or up Waits Hill in Malden. Want to see an outdoor performance? Check out what’s on tap at the Condon Music Shell in Medford, Mary O’Malley Park in Chelsea, or one of several other venues throughout the watershed.
The possibilities are nearly endless. But where do you find out about them? Go to the Mystic Quest page on the Mystic River Watershed Association’s website, www.mysticriver.org/mysticquest, and download the Quest Template. There, MyRWA offers a list of 45 (get it?) potential activities for you to enjoy, grouped in five categories: Arts, Engagement, Physical Activity, Nature/Wildlife, and History and Landmarks. Pick out some of these to enjoy, or add your own in the spaces provided, and you’re ready for the Quest.
Rules to participate are easy: Sign up on the Mystic Quest web page to log as many activities that you complete as possible in the Mystic River Watershed by October 1, 2017! Individuals and teams from 2 to 10 people (such as schools, families, clubs, etc.) are invited to participate (tell your friends!). Winners will be recognized on the MyRWA website, social media, and at the Mystic River Watershed Association’s Annual Meeting in October.
Last, when you’re out in the Mystic Watershed, be sure to share your experience via social media by tagging your activity with #MysticQuest — you might be featured on MyRWA’s feeds!
See you in the Mystic River Watershed!
