Climate Change & Cambridge’s Alewife/Fresh Pond Area

Public Meeting – Climate Change & Cambridge’s Alewife/Fresh Pond Area
Wednesday, April 12, 6:00-8:00 pm
Russell Youth & Community Center, Community Room, 680 Huron Avenue

The Cambridge Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment has been completed and the City is moving onto developing the plan to deal with the risks of increasing temperatures, precipitation, and sea level.  The first focus is on the Alewife/Fresh Pond Area.  At this meeting, the climate change risks to this area will be recapped; the City’s approach on climate change preparedness and resilience will be discussed; and attendees will be asked to react and contribute to the plan initiative.

The two-part Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment is posted on the City website.  Part 1 addresses the risks of increasing temperatures and precipitation.  Part 2 addresses the risks of sea level rise and storm surges.  The CCVA Part 2 summary report is available on the website; two technical reports will be posted soon.
