Join the City of Boston Planning Department for a Virtual Public Meeting to learn about the Charlestown Navy Yard Flood Resilience Project.
About the Meeting:
Join us for the virtual community webinar introducing the Charlestown Navy Yard/ Little Mystic Channel Flood Resilience Mitigation Planning, Feasibility & Design Study, a critical initiative by the City of Boston Planning Department aimed at addressing coastal flood risk and strengthening long-term resilience in Charlestown.
Building on the findings of the 2022 Coastal Resilience Solutions for Charlestown and East Boston Phase II report, the study will assess existing conditions and vulnerabilities and develop feasible district and building-scale adaptation strategies to help protect key neighborhood assets, including waterfront properties, historic sites, public spaces, and critical infrastructure.
The webinar will present an overview of the study’s purpose, timeline, approach, and expected outcomes. We will seek input on flood-related concerns, design priorities, and preferred engagement methods.
This meeting is the first step in an ongoing, inclusive community engagement process which will fundamentally shape our design recommendations reflecting local needs, values, and long-term goals for a more resilient Charlestown.
This meeting will be translated in Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish.
