Lower Mystic Regional Climate Assessment Public Webinar

  • Mystic River Watershed Association 20 ACADEMY ST, Suite 306 Arlington, MA 02476-6401 (map)

Greater Boston has been lucky--so far--in having been spared the extreme coastal storms that have caused so much damage to New York, New Orleans, Houston, and so many other metropolitan areas. With sea level rise and stronger storms, we need to ensure that our most vulnerable residents and assets are protected from harm once that storm does find its way here.

Over the past two years, the Resilient Mystic Collaborative (RMC) has been working with emergency management experts, infrastructure managers, and community based organizations to better understand how a major winter Nor'easter (with 2.5 feet more flooding than 2018 record storms) would affect critical regional infrastructure and socially vulnerable people in the Lower Mystic. The Lower Mystic is comprised of six municipalities in the watershed: Boston (Charlestown & East Boston), Chelsea, Everett, Revere, Somerville, and Winthrop.

Members of the public are invited to learn more about the assessment through a webinar from the Resilient Mystic Collaborative on Tuesday, February 15 from 6-7 PM. The webinar will be in English with Spanish translation and other languages upon advance request through the registration.
