Float into After Dark this July for a night of local river wonder, immersive experiences, and playful discovery at the MIT Museum!
Featured activities:
At 7:00 pm, hear from Jonathon Keats in a special artist talk on his work New England River Time, which imagines a new kind of clock regulated by the changing flow of five regional rivers. Keat's work is featured in our Split I Second exhibition, currently on view.
Next, join MIT Sea Grant as a citizen scientist to help train AI tools that monitor fish movement through river ecosystems, then step into the annual river herring migration through a VR experience.
The evening also features a chance to build your own floating wetland with the Charles River Conservancy, see the hidden world of plankton through artist Jess Holz’s microscopy, and connect with the Mystic River Watershed Association.
Tasty eats and drinks from Pagu, available for purchase.
