Site Prep for Tufts Park Mini-Forest with Trees Medford

  • Tufts Park Medford, MA (map)

Trees Medford is getting ready to bring Medford’s first Miyawaki mini-forest to life at Tufts Park! While the saplings will be planted this fall, the most critical work begins now.

They are holding a community site preparation day to transform the soil. By introducing organic matter, decompacting the ground, and adding biochar and a mulch layer now, we are giving beneficial fungi and bacteria a head start to build a healthy soil ecosystem over the summer. This ensures our 300 future trees have the best possible environment to thrive.

Whether you’re ready to man a wheelbarrow or help with volunteer check-in, we need your help to make this project a success.
