Join us for this land-based stewardship activity at Macdonald Park. We will be tackling bittersweet, an invasive vine that can kill trees, impairs habitat value, and degrades park aesthetics. Gloves and clippers will be provided (but you are welcome to use your own if you prefer!) Please bring sunscreen and water and wear closed-toe shoes.
Event will happen rain or shine, but we will cancel in case of extreme heat, heavy rain, and/or thunder.
*Pre-registration required. We have limited event capacity — so please only register if you will make it that day.
Location Details: A port-a-potty, water, and cell service are available. We will meet next to the parking lot.
Activity Details: We will walk along paved paths to pre-determined areas of the park. To reach the bittersweet, volunteers will need to go off path and onto occasionally uneven ground by trees and bushes to cut and untangle the vine. Volunteers will help gather the cut vines into small piles to be chipped by the Department of Conservation and Recreation and will separate branches with berries for disposal.
