Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Plan Public Meeting #3

This summer, intense rainfall led to record-breaking amounts of sewage being released into our rivers, threatening both public health and ecosystem health. In 2023 alone, 5.3 billion gallons of sewage flowed in Massachusetts waterways through Combined Sewer Overflows. In the Alewife Brook, sewage-laden water has spilled over into backyards, parks, and public paths.

On Wednesday, November 15th at 6pm, the City of Cambridge, the City of Somerville, and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority are hosting their third Public Meeting to discuss Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Planning. This is a great opportunity to show that reducing and eliminating CSO's is important to you.
