How is climate change impacting communities in the Boston Area? This family-friendly program highlights local initiatives that will help people to better live with the changes we are experiencing. People are used to cold winters, snowy and icy streets but we have given less thought to extreme heat and urban heat islands and how they impact our health. As daily temperatures continue to increase in Massachusetts, the Mystic River Watershed Association, in partnership with the Museum of Science, Boston, the Resilient Mystic River Collaborative (RMC), and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council are focused on building a community of resilience to prepare to live with heat. Learn why heat is a public health issue, know about our Wicked Hot Mystic project and volunteer to be part of this community science project.
This event is a part of the Cambridge Science Festival and is limited to 25 participants. Anyone who registers after spots are full will be placed on the waiting list and contacted if a space opens up.
