Each spring Alewife and blueback herring migrate up local rivers—including the Mystic—to spawn. River herring are vital organisms in our local ecosystem. Despite human created barriers and urban waterways, their numbers are on the rise. Find out about the connections between fish, birds, barriers and water quality.
