MYSTIC COMMUNITY EARTH DAY 2015
Calling all volunteers! Community groups from across the watershed have joined together for the sixth consecutive year to coordinate Mystic Community Earth Day. The official Earth Day is April 22nd, but we’ve scheduled events to be family and work friendly on Saturday, April 25th in Cambridge, Malden, Medford, Somerville, and Revere. Groups are welcome at these family-friendly events!
Friends of Alewife Reservation invites you to their annual Earth Day/DCR Park Serve Day at the Alewife Reservation in Cambridge, MA. Students, companies, families and individuals are all welcome to join on April 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Volunteers will work together to remove trash from the Reservation, maintain trails and improve the health of the ecosystem in this flood-plain region. MALDEN & REVERE
Bike to the Sea, Inc. is partnering with the City of Revere and the City of Malden to clean a new segment of the Northern Strand Community Trail starting on the Malden Revere Town Line. Join us from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 25th. Access the trail from the public parking lot at the intersection of Wesley and Lynn St. and head east toward Route 1.

Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) will host a river and park cleanup to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 25 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should meet at the DCR Torbert MacDonald Park parking lot off of Mystic Valley Parkway/Route 16 in Medford. (map here) The event is also accessible by the MBTA Wellington Station on the Orange Line. All supplies will be provided. Rain or shine.

Friends of the Mystic River will host its 20th annual Mystic River Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., meeting at the Hormel Stadium lot, 90 Locust Street. Cleanup supplies will be provided. The cleanup will include the Mystic Riverbend Park and MacDonald Park, but participants may travel to any other location they wish along the Mystic in Medford. Morning and lunchtime refreshments provided. In the event of heavy rain on April 25, the cleanup will take place on Sunday, April 26.

Medford Community Coalition (MCC) is hosting a clean up of Medford Square on Saturday, April 25th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. With the help of the Medford DPW, Green Medford, and the Medford Department of Energy and the Environment, the MCC will clean and beautify the square in honor of Earth Day and the arrival of spring! Participants should meet at Burying Ground Plaza at the corner of Riverside Ave. and River St. in Medford Square by 1:45 p.m.

Groundwork Somerville is hosting Comcast Cares Day with the City of Somerville on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse, and 11 other sites around the City including South Street Farm, the Community Path and Union Square.
