Since July 2000, MyRWA volunteers have collected samples throughout the watershed for analysis of bacteria and nutrients. We currently have several studies underway, collectively referred to as the
Mystic Monitoring Network (MMN):
BASELINE MONITORING PROGRAM
In the Baseline Monitoring Program, staff & volunteers sample at the same 15 locations each month. The goal of this program is to track changes in water quality over time.

HOT-SPOT MONITORING PROGRAM
In the Hot Spot Monitoring Program, staff & volunteers sample each month intensively along a river or stream. The goal of this program is to identify pollution 'hot spots' in the watershed.

FIND-IT and FIX-IT PROGRAM
In the Find It and Fix It Program, staff & volunteers identify and catalog pollution caused by storm water.
The project addresses improving the quality of the watersheds by identifying and removing pollution caused by stormwater (non-point source pollution) that threatens public and aquatic health.
